I first heard about this kit last May then have it pre-ordered through SamuelDecals. The initial release date was August, then it was moved to October, then it became November and then finally changed to December. But with the amount of details on this kit, I would say it is indeed worth the wait. So now let’s open it.
The box is a bit bigger than MG Hi-nu ver Ka.
The box art, printed over shiny carton.
Another detailed print inside the box:
The poster with RG RX-78-2
Not one but two sheets of water slide decals.
Photo-etched parts for better detailing.
This is where I got disappointed, no printed manual. Instead you’ll get a DVD with step by step procedures in building the kit which I would guess the same videos posted in youtube by GCore. A printed manual would be better as I don’t have to build this in front of a computer. I might simply use the youtube videos so that I can just use an ipad or a smart phone rather than a laptop.
Notes/parts list and decals application guide.
The original head parts in the runner have defects so they included these replacement parts.
Another exclusive to pre-order 1, camouflage armour set.
Something I’m not excited to see, small screws and nuts. I didn’t enjoy the experience using these on my PG Wing Zero as it makes disassembly quite complicated.
The metal thrusters with LED.
Exclusive again to pre-order 1, LED beam sabers.
Yellow parts, I’m not sure yet but I might change these to either brass or pale gold.
The red parts on the other hand looks great for me, I like it’s subtle red-orange look.
Heaps of chrome parts here.
Perfect Grade-size beam saber effects.
Jointed fingers similar to PG kits.
Polycaps and some clear parts.
And the rest of the runners:
Mechanicore made 1500 boxes for the first pre-order (with camouflage armour and led beam sabers), mine is number 544.
On first look the plastic quality is not bad at all, some even got textured finish, probably part of the design. But the grey parts looks a bit faded, nothing serious because I’ll paint them with either gunmetal or steel. I like the camouflage design and I’m already excited to start working on this kit.
