I’ve been wanting to build a weathered kit for years now. I want to have my 1/35 Red Frame Bust weathered but before that I practiced with this RG Z’Gok.
So here’s my first fully weathered kit; I learned a lot on this build.
Haven’t been doing any builds lately, I hope that recently cleaned airbrushes will inspire me to get back into painting.
I noticed that it’s been around 3 years since I last posted about this kit. I’ve started building gunpla again a few weeks ago, and made some progress on this one.
I use a combination of alligator clips and blu-tack to hold the parts while painting. I also mark the styro to remind me what colours to use on each part. MG for medium gray, DG for dark gray, and Alclad magnesium for ALC MAGNSM.
White, silver gray, and cold gray are used on most parts. I also used two shades of blue.
Keeping parts organised is very important especially if you don’t know when will you have the time to build again.
I use fine tip brush to add small details on some parts.
I have to cut out the back of the piston skirt to remove the rod shaft. I also sanded the inside of the piston skirt so that the rod shaft can still move after a few layers of paint. Then I painted the piston skirt with bright silver, and I will later coat it with transparent red.
Quick assembly of main parts after top coat and panel lining:
See part 1 here.
I usually do my kit shopping around mid way through the month as this somewhat give me and indication whether I have budget for new stuff (plus I get paid monthly so its halfway to payday!!). These just arrive last week. 😀
Firstly, the new MG Hyaku Shiki Ver 2.0
I’ve had this kit since release date but I had this place in my HLJ private warehouse.
MG Mobile Pod Ball Ver Ka
I’ve always wanted one of these for no apparent reason actually, but its only Y1600 and it was available
RG Wing Zero Extension Effect Stand
This is not really a kit but a custom base for the RG Wing Zero Custom.
But I like it since I like to recreate iconic pose in the Endless Waltz OVA series
MG Tallgeese III EW
I’ve always loved the design on the Tallgeese, but my favorite of all iterations is the EW version Tallgeese III which unfortunately only came as a P-Bandai release, being here in NZ I don’t have access to these items without using those overpriced ebay shops, so when I had the chance to get this kit I didn’t hesistate one bit.
Aoshima Full Metal Panic! ARX-7 Arbalest
I’ve always been an anime fan. One of those anime that I’m particularly fond of is the Full Metal Panic!. Unfortunately their are no news whether they’ll make more episodes in the series. so the next best thing is to own the primary mech in the series.
I know this kit has been out for a while now but then again I only came back to making kits again not so long ago, I started to look for this kit but when I found out that this particular one is already discontinued, I was so gutted. So like the Tallgeese III when I saw this one available I didn’t hold back and now its here!
Currently this is my stack of kits to be done (can you name them all). These new ones are an awesome addition to my collection. I cant wait to build them all, now finding the time to build them all is a totally different issue but if there’s a will, there’s a way as the saying goes :).
I thought I would post up my latest Gunpla related acquisitions.
If you are interested in more info/pics or even an ‘unboxing’ review just post in the comments and I will do my best.
Im would jus like to introduce myself, Im Dan, I’ve been building kits since highschool, during his time, I’ve built a few kits, mostly HG kits some NGs and MG of Gundams and Macross. unfortunately i had to postpone building kits due to the demands of school, and graduating going to uni wasn’t too helpful aswell in he scheduling deparment. So as the years go by graduating uni, working, going here to NZ and starting a family, currently im in a place where i have just enough time to spare to build kits, and still be there for my family.
Well here come he fun part (for me atleast), at the moment,im up to my 2nd kit in, my 1st kit, was a RG Aile Strike. I’ve always liked the Gundam Seed to be honest for all its drama, inconsistencies and flaws. So I thought th Strike was he perfect to start with. (The photos arent the perfect, butwe cant all be photographers right and dont mind the messy desk.)
I didnt fully paint this kit, only thing painted with this one are the eyes and rifle beam lense and then just some flat top coat.. I did some newbie mistakes mostly minor, panel lining mishaps and some parts ” accidental breakage” but overall im quite happy with how it turned out.
At the moment, building my first MG kit in 10 years, so i decided to make the the Grand Daddy of all Gundams. Initially I wanted to get the v3.0, but my sources was out of stock at the time and found this which was cheaper.
Here’s an quick update on where I’m currently at:
I just finished painting all of the parts last night, and will soon by putting some clear coat. I’ll post in another thread soon.
Well this is my introduction for now. I’ll keep on posting as soon as i managed to move forward with the kit.
